Ownly ("Ownly," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Ownly collects, uses, stores, and discloses information when you use the Ownly website, application, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Ownly is intended for individuals 14 years of age or older.

1. Information We Collect

We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary to provide and operate Ownly.

Account Information

Ownly accounts are created through Google Sign-In. Ownly does not create passwords and does not request, receive, or store passwords in any form.

Google Sign-In

When you sign in with Google, Ownly receives information necessary to create and authenticate your account, which may include:

Your email address;
Your name;
A unique account identifier; and
Other information provided through the authentication process.

Ownly does not request or receive your Google account password.

2. Information You Provide

Depending on the features you use, Ownly may collect information that you voluntarily provide, including:

Educational progress;
Quiz or activity results;
Account preferences;
Feedback; and
Other information you voluntarily submit through the Service.

We encourage users not to provide unnecessary sensitive personal information.

5. Google Authentication

When you use Google Sign-In, Google handles the authentication process.

Ownly does not receive your Google account password.

Information provided to Ownly through Google authentication is used to establish and maintain your Ownly account and provide associated functionality.

Google separately handles information according to Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.

6. Third-Party Service Providers

Ownly uses third-party services to help develop, host, secure, and operate the Service.

These may include:

Vercel

Vercel may provide hosting, deployment, infrastructure, and related technical services for Ownly.

Depending on our technical configuration, information transmitted through Ownly may be processed by Vercel as part of providing these services.

GitHub

GitHub is used by the Ownly development team for software development and source-code management.

Ownly does not intentionally send users' personal information to GitHub merely because GitHub is used to develop Ownly.

Anthropic / Claude

Claude may be used by the Ownly development team for software development, research, testing, or related development purposes.

Ownly does not intentionally provide users' personal information to Claude solely because Claude is used as a development tool.

If Ownly later introduces features that directly send user information to an AI service, we will update this Privacy Policy as appropriate.

7. How We Share Information

Ownly does not sell users' personal information.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Service, including providers of:

Hosting and infrastructure;
Authentication;
Security;
Databases;
Communications;
Analytics; and
Technical support.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

Comply with applicable law;
Respond to valid legal requests;

Ownly does not currently sell users' personal information.

If we introduce advertising, targeted advertising, or advertising-related tracking, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any disclosures, consent mechanisms, or privacy choices required by applicable law.

9. Age Requirement

Ownly is intended for users 14 years of age or older.

Ownly does not intentionally design the Service for children under 14.

By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 14 years old.

If we become aware that an individual under 14 has created an account, we may take appropriate action, which may include suspending or deleting the account and associated information as required by applicable law.

If an account-deletion feature is available within Ownly, you may also use that feature.

Certain information may be retained where reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, maintain security, prevent fraud, or resolve disputes.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

No online service can guarantee complete security.

Because Ownly accounts are accessed through Google Sign-In, the security of your Ownly account depends in part on the security of your Google account. Users are responsible for protecting their Google account and should not allow others to use it.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may provide you with rights regarding your personal information.

These may include, where applicable:

The right to request access to personal information;
The right to request correction of inaccurate information;
The right to request deletion;
The right to obtain information about how personal information is used; and

We may update this Privacy Policy as Ownly's features, technology, or legal requirements change.
